Fall Home Reset: Declutter and Organize Checklist

Fall is the perfect time for a full home reset. Work through this checklist one room at a time to clear out summer and get ready for busy months ahead.

1. Entryway: swap seasonal gear

Store summer hats, sandals and beach bags. Bring out coats, boots, gloves and umbrellas, and check what still fits.

  • Wash and store summer items
  • Check kids coats and boots for size
  • Add a basket for hats and gloves

2. Closets: rotate clothes

Box up summer clothes and bring out warm layers. Donate anything that was not worn this year.

3. Kitchen and pantry: clear and restock

Use up summer drinks and snacks, check dates on baking supplies and set up a breakfast zone for school mornings.

4. Bedrooms: switch bedding

Wash and store light bedding and bring out warmer duvets and blankets, storing each set together.

5. Whole home: set a weekly routine

Pick one day each week for a 30-minute reset: laundry, surfaces, fridge and paper.

  1. Monday: laundry
  2. Wednesday: surfaces and floors
  3. Friday: fridge and paper
  4. Sunday: plan the week

A fall reset takes a weekend, and it makes every busy weekday that follows easier.
